Ajahn Chalao was born at Rayong Province , East of Thailand. He was ordained as a novice between 16 to 19 years old as a monk twice between 20 to 23 years old and 28 to 37 years old. While he was a monk , he learnt Pali and graduated High Level of Pali Studies Certificate eventually. He was also interrested in ancient Yantra , Montra and tattooing. So he loved to seek for the Masters and was educated by several holy men such as Luang Por Sawai (Wat Sapansi , Rayong) , Luang Por Tong Dum (Wat Huway Prab , Rayong) , Luang Por Porn (Wat Bangna Nai , Bangkok) so on. A young monk , Arjarn Chalao took his ascetic journey around Thailand , Cambodia and Myanmar to learn and to find his way.

In 1993 , Arjahn Chalao was invited for tattooing in Singapore and then Malaysia and Australia (Australian Muay Thai Boxers) respectively. Later on he still goes back and forth aboard several times and he has finally left his monkhood since 1998. Arjahn Chalao still keeps on tattooing so far. Now a day he has so many devotees both Thais and foreigners
